What should you expect?

photosmaster_r15_c17.jpgFellow Travelers

  • Fun, active, curious and open-minded female traveling companions of different ages, diverse walks of life, and geographic locations.
  • The “glass is half full, not half empty” attitudes and outlooks.
  • A different roommate at each destination. (Ann makes the roommate assignments to facilitate healthy group dynamics and create opportunities for connections and friendships that might not be made otherwise.)

Active Travel

  • photosmaster_r35_c23.jpgExperiencing firsthand different cultures, customs, and ecosystems; “out of the ordinary” activities.
  • Amazing flora and fauna.
  • Walking, hiking and other activities in varied climates ranging from cool to hot and humid, all of which require overall good health and physical condition.
  • Outstanding leadership, vast knowledge, great organizing abilities, humor and compassion from our experienced Wonderful Women guide, Alex Alvarez Rojas, and experienced local guides on the Osa Peninsula.
  • Moments of emotional and physical intensity.
  • Opportunity for some optional activities such as zip lining; horseback riding; massage; the night hikes; pool and beach time.
  • Early to rise and generally early to bed.

Accommodations and Food

  • photosmaster_r22_c9.pngHomestays with lovely families in a suburban community in the Central Valley;
  • Comfortable small to mid-size eco lodges and boutique hotel; private baths and hot water
  • Food is typically plentiful with fresh local cuisine (lots of plantains, beans and rice, and when available, fresh fruits and vegetables), but choices are occasionally limited. While efforts are made to accommodate vegetarians and other dietary needs, some flexibility may be required. If you have special needs, you must advise Ann in

Transport and Transfer Times

  • photosmaster_r15_c9.jpgBus and other transport sometimes on bumpy and slow going roads.
  • Two 45 minute rides on a 20 seat plane to and from the Osa Peninsula.
  • Some activities by boat including two round trip rides (approximately one hour each way) on the Pacific Ocean.
  • Travel times that can be unpredictable.
  • Patience and a “go with the flow” attitude are essential.

Weather

  • photosmaster_r48_c47.jpg Temperate and tropical climates ranging from cool to hot and humid.
  • Even though we will be in dry season, the weather can be unpredictable and shift without warning. Keep in mind that, without rain, there would be no rainforests.

What should you NOT expect?

  • Air conditioned rooms and televisions at each location.
  • Modern, pristine bathrooms (e.g. toilets) at every “pit stop” along the way.
  • Guaranteed daily phone and internet connectivity.
  • Large urban environs.
  • Need for high fashion attire.
  • Absolutely everything going exactly as planned.

In order to fully enjoy this trip, you will need a commitment to look, listen, feel and appreciate the riches of the road and all that Costa Rica and the “Wonderful Women” have to offer.

PURA VIDA.
