2010 NSF ERC Annual Meeting

Welcome to the homepage of the 2010 National Science Foundation Engineering Research Centers (NSF ERC) Annual Meeting! This year’s agenda is structured slightly differently from those of past years, as we have the distinct pleasure of recognizing the 25th anniversary of the ERC Program. Please look over the mini-agenda below to start your plans for attending and participating in this special event.
Registration for the meeting is now open, and we encourage you to make your travel and lodging reservations as soon as possible to secure availability and assist us in our planning.
Wednesday, December 1, 2010
- 9:00am to 11:30am, the meeting opens with the NSF Plenary Session, and includes a presentation on “How ERCs are Stimulating an Innovation Culture in Their Universities”
- 12:00pm to 5:00pm, over a buffet lunch, the Student Retreat and the Closed Meetings for Center Directors and Deputy Directors, Administrative Directors, Industrial Liaison Officers, Education and Outreach Directors, and Research Thrust Leaders
- 5:30pm to 6:30pm, a light Welcome Reception followed by dinner on your own
Thursday, December 2, 2010 ~ Celebration of the ERCs
- 8:00am, day 2 begins with the second plenary session and the theme of the evolution of a Center and strategies for renewal
- 10:30am, breakout sessions by Class Year on the topic of center renewal and sustainability
- Lunch includes speaker Lesa Mitchell, Vice President of Advancing Innovation, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, on “Accelerating Innovation in a Decelerated Economy”
- 1:45pm, four concurrent breakout sessions on partnership topics directed toward Staff Function
- 3:30pm, Kickoff of the ERC Program 25th Anniversary, including early achievements, future possibilities, and a celebratory dinner
Friday, December 3, 2010
- 8:30am, plenary session reports on the outcomes of the Student Retreat’s ERC strategic evolution plans
- 9:45am, Cross-function discussion sections for 1) Education and Center Directors, 2) Administrative Directors and Faculty, and 3) ILOs and Thrust Leaders
- 11:45am, Box lunches and informal open session for feedback and discussion
