Spanish/Cultural Immersion Trips (Co-Ed)
Ann’s Spanish Language/Cultural Immersion Experience provides a highly customized, deeply integrated approach to learning or improving Spanish. This one-week co-ed trip consists of three to four days of mini- group Spanish lessons at a well-respected Spanish language school, paired with a local home stay experience in Tres Rios, a San Jose suburb. Whether participants are practicing Spanish while learning about the “Tico” culture surrounding coffee or conversing with their host family, this experience gives students an opportunity to improve their skills while also learning about local customs and culture.
The second half of this trip gives participants a completely different, but equally authentic view of Costa Rican life and culture by traveling south to the Osa Peninsula. Whether participants are hearing the personal stories of local residents or learning about the surrounding rainforest ecology during guided tours of the majestic natural beauty the location affords (especially Corcovado National Park), the second half of the experience gives participants the opportunity to improve their skills in a unique “out-of-the-classroom” immersion experience.
Most recent trip: June 14-21, 2015
What people are saying about the Spanish/Cultural Immersion Trips:
Great learning and cultural immersion opportunities, and constant fun and laughter with the wonderful people in our group and all of the warm, welcoming Costa Ricans we met throughout the trip. You have such a gift for building relationships across cultures…
Amazing — every moment and event was memorable. The people (both on the trip and in Costa Rica) were people that I felt fortunate to have spent time with and hope to continue these relationships. There were so many moments that I smile when I think of them…Ann is an extremely competent facilitator and generous, warm person who makes traveling very easy.
Spanish language immersion was fantastic. The school was excellent and the teachers highly intelligent, skilled, charming and willing to indulge my interests in literature and folk tales.
Living with our Tico families added a wonderful cultural dimension to the trip.
Corcovado National Park — I still can’t believe everything our guide, Javier, found and showed us!
